What is the best way to protect my Airless Sprayer?

Graco 190 PC Express Sprayer

An airless sprayer isn’t often cheap to purchase so it is an investment and it is an investment worth looking after!

There are two main products you can and should be using to ensure that this investment keeps on saving you money not costing it.

The first is Graco Pump Armor

Graco Pump Armour protects airless paint sprayers from corrosion when not in use. It’s a must-have for every Airless Sprayer owner and comes at minimal cost.

BENEFITS OF USING PUMP ARMOR:

  • Keeps machine lubricated
  • Prevents internal corrosion
  • Prevents internal seals drying out
  • Stops any left-over paint drying out that could cause blockages
  • Anti-freeze

So how do you use Graco Pump Armor?

Before applying the Pump Armor make sure that your machine is as clean as possible, removing as much leftover paint as you can. You wont need the gun and hose here which makes the whole process easier as the aim is to fill the pump with the Pump Armor.

Firstly remove the filter from the suction tube, switch the prime valve to prime position. Get the Graco Pump Armor and insert the suction tube directly into the bottle. Take the return tube and put it into an empty cup.

Slowly increase the pressure in the sprayer and decrease this once you see the fluid coming out through the return tube. Once finished, the the machine off and switch the prime valve back into the horizontal spray position ready for spraying again. Re-attach the filter to the suction tube.

When it comes time to reuse the machine, simply flush out the Pump Armor with clean water using the same method as above.

The second very important product to use to keep your investment (the Sprayer) running smoothly is Graco Throat Seal Liquid or often as it is called TSL – the lubrication for your investment.

Simply add a couple of drops of TSL before use – Always – this will keep the seals lubricated and moist. TSL Throat Seal Liquid is specially formulated to prevent paint and coatings from drying and building up on the displacement rods and packing’s.

How to apply Graco TSL?

At the front of your machine near the top of the pump shaft there will be a small lever that you can open to insert the TSL.

Simply open this lever, insert the nozzle of lubricant through the small guard that protects the pump piston shaft. Squeeze lubricant bottle and allow lubricant to run down shaft, through the small gap between shaft and black seal washer that protects the lubricant reservoir.

This process should also be done with every use of the sprayer.
