What type of ladder should I be using?

Warthog Platform Ladder

The question “What type of ladder should I be using for my job?” is a common one we get asked by our customers. This is an important question as not all ladders are equal, many have different purposes for different jobs. So to make it easier for you we have listed our most commonly sold ladders and what they are best used for.

Dual Purpose Ladders –

First up is the dual purpose ladders, dual purpose means a ladder (commonly known as “A” frame) that can be set up in either the “A” frame setting or folded/extended out to give extra height when leaning up against a wall for example.

We have two main options available here –

Warthog 180kg Dual Purpose – the Warthogs are some of the strongest (if not the strongest) ladders made right here in NZ. What sets the Warthog apart is the welded steps (rather than riveted), splayed legs for extra stability and the 10 year guarantee from the manufacturer! The perfect ladder for large commercial jobs and also exterior jobs with rough surfaces.

OX Dual Purpose Ladder – the OX Dual Purpose is the cheaper cousin of the Warthog, these ladders are 150kg rated and more of a lightweight ladder and easier ladder to carry from job to job. Make no mistake though as the OX ladder is still an excellent ladder for anything construction related and often the first pick for a DIY project.

Platform Ladders –

Platform ladders are often the only type of ladder allowed on many jobsites today due to the safety provided by having the three points of contact. These ladders are also the perfect ladder if you are going to be working at a certain height for a longer period of time.

Warthog Platform Ladder – the 180kg rated Warthog Platform Ladder is once again the heaviest duty platform ladder in our range with welded steps and splayed legs for extra stability.

OX Platform Ladder – the lightweight platform ladder version of the Warthog. Still 180kg rated, the OX is used on many indoor projects because of its maneuverability and great stability.

Adjusta-Step – fast becoming the most popular ladder in the platform range due to their innovative design which allows the platform to be adjusted between 4 different heights in the one ladder. The OX Adjusta-Step comes in three different height options, 3-5 steps, 4-7 steps & 5-9 steps. The perfect ladder for anyone looking to save space on the jobsite or in the van by storing just one ladder rather than 3 or 4.
